Whiteside Grave(s) Shelby County, Texas Transcribed by Jim and Jan Barrett parino@flash.net November 26, 1999 Last Updated 11/26/1999 Whiteside Grave(s) is located on CR 4759 south of US 84. From the intersection of US 59 South and US 84 West on the south side of Timpson, go west on US 84 for 1.8 miles to the second intersection with FM 1970. Turn left (south) on FM 1970. Go 2.1 miles to the end of FM 1970. Turn to your left on the dirt county road (CR 4759). Follow this road, taking the right hand fork, 0.2 miles. The grave(s) is located on your right in a small fenced area on private property. There are two graves enclosed by a woven wire fence which covers an area about 9 feet wide and 10 feet long. The fence is about six feet tall, one corner has been mashed down, and is supported by 5 metal post which extend about 6 feet above the ground. There are several trees and many vines inside the fence. The marker for Nancy is in very good condition and easy to read. The marker for the child was in very poor condition. There were verses at the bottom of the stone which appeared sharp, but I was not able to read them due to poor light. All of the personal information had been effaced. We felt we could make out one date which may have been Nov. 1840. ************************************************************************ USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
