Jesse Overton (b. 1787)
Family New Testament

Jesse Overton's New Testament is owned by Howard Bramlette of 
Nashville, Tennessee.   Howard has indicated to me on several 
occasions that permission is granted to publish the following 
information.  Other than the italicized comments, the information is 
verbatim from the copies of the Bible pages that I have.  Keep in mind 
that I have had to interpret the handwritten information as best I 
could, but I have conformed the dates to other sources.

Most of the following information would have been entered into the 
New Testament, probably by Jesse's wife Susanna Alexander, while they 
were living in Maury County, Tennessee.  Those that have an asterisk 
by their names moved to Smith County, Texas in the mid-to-late 1850's.

Eliza Cassandra Overton was born March the 17th 1818 
Samuel Overton* was born January 22, 1821 
James Jefferson Overton was born January 27, 1823 

(Note:  The above name was partially torn, I put in the data that I 
have from other sources; a name that may have been torn out for some 
reason would have been that of Martha M. Overton, born January 2, 
1825) 

Robert Carter Overton* born January the January the 11, 1827 
Susan Brunson Overton born May the 18, 1829 
Abdon (Independence) Alexander Overton was born December 8th, 1830 
Jesse Overton* was born the 11th October, 1832

(Note:  As a matter of note, I believe that the above individual was 
actually the half brother of Jesse Overton and the son of Jesse's 
father John Overton, jr. and his second wife, Susannah, maiden name 
unknown)
William James Benjamin Rodery born the 15th July 1835
Jesse Alexander McKay was born this 16th January 1836

(Note:  A considerable portion of the above page was torn away, so 
many names were not included that were illegible.  The following 
births were handwritten on a blank page, indicating the "formal" 
pages used for documenting births were completely full)

(Note: I believe the above Isaac moved to Smith County with one of the

listed in Dr. Samuel Overton's medical journals of 1872)
