Johnson, Publisher, Tyler, Texas Chapter XC - Pages - 357 -358 - Picture on Page 356 Captain Reuben E. House was a native of South Carolina, but moved with his family to Alabama, when quite a boy. His tragic death occurred in Tyler, as detailed on page 318 and chapter 78, of this book. Captain House was married to Miss Loftin, of Alabama,a sister to Dr. O. Loftin of Tyler, and Alf Loftin, of Nebo, Texas. They raised three children --Reuben J., Nellie and Eddie Louise. Capt. House moved his family to Tyler, in 1865, and began the practice of law, making quite a success. He was an educated and knightly gentleman of the old souther school, and had many friends. He was a captain in the Confederate army, and made a spotless record. Reuben J. House was a bright young man, and, like his father, was a gentleman. He married Miss Inez Blair of Corsicana, Texas, and died within a few years after his marriage. His widow survives, and lives in Tyler, at the old family homestead. She is a woman of culture and refinement, and loved by all who know her. Miss Nellie House was one of the brightest and most beautiful youn woman in this section, and married Fred L. Dilley, a prominent business man. Uphappily, she only lived a few months after her marriage. Miss Eddie Louise was married to Hon. John M. Duncan, a brillian lawyer of Tyler. They live in a beautiful house, in South Tyler, where they entertain their friends in royal style.
