Johnson, Publisher, Tyler, Texas Chapter LXXXII - Pages 335-337 - Picture on Page 336 Thomas Pool was born in South Carolina, April 15th, 1815, and moved with his father's family to Sumpter county, Alabama, when a boy. Nancy Aultman was a native of South Carolina, born in 1819; moved to Alabama with the Aultman family, when quite a girl. In 1836, Thomas Pool and Nancy Aultman, were married in Sumpter county, Alabama. Thomas Pool and family removed to Texas in 1855, and settled in the Red Springs (Sand Flat) community; remained there until 1866, when they moved to the Mt. Sylvan neighborhood, where the father and mother died, respectively, in April, 1890, and February, 1898. They were good Christian people and lived up to the duties of life they owed to God, their church and their neighbors. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pool raised nine children---James F., Henry, John A., Thomas J., Clementine, Robt C., I.P., Dora C., Charley W. The three oldest---James, Henry and John---served in the Confederate army, making first class soldiers. James F. married Miss Mary Hitt, but lived only a year or two after his marriage, leaving one little girl---Jennie. Henry Pool first married Miss Susan White, and his second marriage was with Miss Carrie Tucker. He resides on his farm near Lindale, Texas. He raised a large family. John A. Pool has been married twice; first with Miss Tinnie Stroud; the second, Miss Angie Magee. He is a farmer and lives near Mt. Sylvan, Texas. Thomas J. Pool married Miss Mary White, and lived at Mt. Sylvan until his death, which occurred in 1880. Clementine, a bright and beautiful girl, lived to be only fourteen years of age. Robt C. Pool first married Miss Georgia Castle, and afterwards, Miss Mattie_____. He now resides in the Red Springs (Sand Flat) neighborhood, near the old homestead his father first settled. I.P.Pool was twice married; first, Miss Alice Roberts; second, Miss Laura Thorn. He died at Mt. Sylvan, in January, 1899. Dora C. Pool, the only daughter that lived to be grown, married the Hon. Geo. W. Cross, the present popular county judge of Smith county. They reside in Tyler. Chas. W. Pool married Miss Lula Brown. He is in business in Tyler. The Pools are leading citizens of Smith county, and are leading people in their communities, a very intelligent, thrifty, and wide awake people. They are fit representatives of their honored parents.
