Johnson JOSEPH C. FLEWELLEN Joseph C. Flewellen was born in Georgia, February 12, 1846, and removed to Texas with his parents in 1855, settling near Garden Valley. He enlisted in Co. H, 35th Cavalry, commanded by Col. Likens, and served one year and six months. From the date of his enlistment until the surrender he was with his command, participating in the battle of Mansfield, La. Like all Southern boys, he was loyal and performed his duty to the land of his nativity. On Feb. 15, 1870, he was married to Miss Emma C. Richardson, of Henderson, Texas. A prominent farmer, a loyal Texan and a good citizen. Postoffice, Garden Valley, Texas.
