Johnson ELIJAH LINDSEY Elijah Lindsay was born in Shelby County, Ala., August 2, 1842, being the oldest son of David H. and Nancy W. Lindsey, who settled near Henderson in Rusk county in 1847, and the following year removed to Smith County. He enlisted in Co. C, 17th Texas Cavalry, Taylor's regiment, Polignac's division, Trans-Mississippi department. He participated in the campaigns of the army, ever faithful to the cause of the South. He has been prominent in business as a merchant and farmer. He has been married twice: On December 1st, 1868 he was married to Miss Sue Roberts, a daughter of Col. Willis Roberts, and she died Nov. 22nd, 1888. In 1890 he married Miss Sallie Nunnelee of Lindale, Texas. A good man a true Confederate and a gentleman of the old South. Postoffice.- Tyler, Texas.
