Johnson CHUSTENALLAH.- (Col. A. W. Sparks) Col. A. W. Sparks, in writing of the battle of the battle of Chustenallah in his interesting volume "Recollections of the Great War," pays the following compliment to the following Texans: "Major G. W. Chilton, of the 3rd Texas Cavalry, while acting with conspicuous gallantry was wounded with a rifle ball, slightly in the head, but disregarding which, he remained at his post until the last gun was fired. Major M. J. Brinson, of the 9th Texas Cavalry, bore himself throughout the engagement with marked gallantry, and by his fearless demeanor, contributed no little to the final result. The author's friend, Harry Bell, of Co. A, 3rd Texas Cavalry, was severely, though not mortally wounded, by a frightful bullet hole in the right breast."
