Johnson, pg. 149 At Plano, Texas, a Confederate organization exists with the unique name of "The Forty-Fours." This title was chosen because of the birthday of the members- each having been born in the year 1844. A reunion is held on the anniversary of each, as named below, and consquently they meet every month in the year, except February, May, June and July; they have eight celbrations annually. The name of the Forty-Fours and their Confederate service follows: T. C. Jasper, Co., C, Sixth Kentucky Cavalry, Morgan's brigade; J. M. Huffman, Morgan's old squadron; A. H. Fortner, Co. K, Bufords Nineteenth Texas regiment; G. W. Bowman, Co. B. Third Kentucky, Morgan's bigade; F. M. Armstrong, Co. E, Fifth Tennessee Cavalry, Ashley's brigade: D. J. Martin, Co., F., Fifteenth Tennessee Calvary, Morgan's brigade; J. M. Wells, Co. D, Third Virginia Battalion of Artillery; G. C. Garrison, Co I, Third Kentucky, Breckenridge's brigade. Each of these veterans is an honored citizen of Collin County.
