Matthew CASWEII born 1797 in Hancock County, Georgia, son of John and Amelia LAWRENCE CASWELL, of Tyrell County, North Carolina. Matthew CASWELL died in Putnam County, Georgia, in 1837 leaving his wife and five children. Eliza CASWELL married 1840 Shimmey BLACK. Four sons John W., James R., William M. and Thomas J. Caswell. Elizabeth Ward CASWELL Married second in 1850 to William R. SINGLETON. They removed to Smith County, Texas in 1854. Elizabeth died 11 July 1862.
