LETTER - HINES-SCOTT - 1890 - Smith County, TX Submitted 15 Jun 2000 by Dianna Hendricks - hendricks4@altavista.com> ***************************************************************** Copyright. We were so delighted to see Walter, and I shall try to keep him with us quite a while since 'tis his first visit to us and really he is the only one of my relatives who has favored me with a visit since I was married, with the exception of Brother and my husband's family. I am very fond of my kinsfolk and wish I could see more of them. Walter makes himself at home and really seems to me like the same little Walter I used to know. I was so disappointed because more of the rest of you couldn't come with him. You cannot imagine how very much I would appreciate a visit from you. Can't you come down while W. is here? Let Ura and Ida come any way if you cannot come. I can't see why all of you can't come. At any rate, I shall look for you in two or three days. Cousin will you please excuse my poor letter. I am ashamed to send such a one, but have written very hurriedly as 'tis time to cook dinner (I do my own cooking) and I am very nervous. Please answer this if you can read it, and say you will come - Tell the girls to write and give them my love - Extend kindest love to cousin Johnny and accept same from your ever loving cousin, Rena Hines Note by Diana Hendricks - This is a letter dated 8/19/1890 written by Rena Hines to Mary Carrin Denson Scott. The Johnny referred to is John D. Scott, Mary's husband. Ida and Ura are the daughters of Mary and John Scott. I am not sure who Walter was, although I believe he is John Walter Scott, son of Mary and John Scott.
