GRADUATION ACTIVITIES JANUARY 1923 I re-entered Tyler High School in September 1922 and graduated with the mid-term class on Thursday, January 18, 1923. There were twenty two of us graduates: Ruth Hazel Arratt Alma Leta Moore Jack Brown Thurman Larkin Morrison Cera Jo Freeman Marcellite Owens William Lister Gowan William Pinkerton Eugenia Havenkotte Lois Powell Marvin A. Hill Margaret Shuford George W. Hobgood, Jr. Cecil F. Taylor Grace Hobgood Sara Ernestine Wilson Evelyn Hudson Herbert Fifer Maurice B. McCrary Jewel Robertson Mitta Mayes J. Ligon Rozell There were three main activities: 1. Class Day - For the first time in THS history a mid-term class had the pleasure of celebrating a class day. This consisted mainly of a play, Let's All Get Married. 2. Baccalaureate Sermon - Preached by Dr. Robert Hill, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Tyler. 3. Graduation Exercises - The address was given by Dean Jennings of Southern Methodist University. His subject was "The Transforming Power of An Ideal." A copy of the Program and an Invitation was included. A picture of the dress I wore for the graduation ceremony is enclosed. It was made of apricot-colored taffeta with gold lace "bertha" and belt trimmings. My dress for the Baccalaureate Sermon was made of black crepe with lovely green trimmings. It made a nice dress for Sundays, etc. I received many beautiful gifts, cards, and flowers.
