CHARTER OF SUMMER HILL SELECT SCHOOL.

1.  The name of this corporation shall be the "Summer Hill Select 
    School".

2.  It is formed for the support of an institution for the education
    of the white youths of Texas, both male and female.

3.  Its business is to be transacted at Omen, Smith County, Texas.

4.  The term of its existence shall be fifty years.

5.  The board of trustees shall consist of three members, who shall
    hold their offices for the term of two years, and the following
    persons with their residences affixed, shall constitute said
    board for the first year;  Trustees:  R. W. Hamilton, Omen, Texas,
    A. W. Foster, Omen, Texas, Henry Floore, Omen, Texas.

6.  Employing teachers and fixing their salaries shall be the duty of
    the principal only.

7.  This school shall not be denominational, nor shall a majority of 
    the faculty proper, be selected from any one church.

8.  Every thing pertaining to the discipline and government shall be 
    vested in the faculty.

9.  It shall be the prerogative of the faculty to grant diplomas in
    the several commercial, pedagogic, scientific and classical
    departments, and confer all degrees usually conferred by colleges.

10. This corporation has no capital stock; and all the fiscal affairs
    of said institution shall be under the control and management of 
    the president or principal, of said school.
