L. and Lockett Adair moved the remnants of their Whitesboro Teachers Normal College from Grayson County to Tyler. This was the forerunner of Tyler Commercial College. They were joined in Tyler by Henry Edwary Byrne and Frank A. Glenn. The school first met in the former "Fruit Palace". After the building burned in 1903, the school moved to downtown. An emphasis was given on business subjects. Some of the courses offered were: accounting, shorthand, typewriting and penmanship. These people were listed on the 1900 Census under TYLER COLLEGE. 1900 Census - Justice Precinct No 1 (Part of) Tyler City - 16th day of June 1900 - Enumerator L. E.
