All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************************** Tyler Daily Courier-Times, Friday, August 26, 1921 At the Colored Baptist Sunday School and B.Y.P.U. convention in session at the First Colored church in Tyler there is much interest in the progress of these organizations in the state. Last evening Judge R. W. Simpson spoke to the colored people and a response was made by Dr. Wilson of Dallas. Dr. J. E. Knox of Houston was elected president of the convention, Rev. W. F. Bledsoe first vice president, Rev. F. B. Williams second vice president, Rev. W. L. Davis recording secretary, and Prof. J. M Stephens assistant secretary. Principal work of the convention has been the graduating exercises of the Sunday School teachers, and the reading of the reports of committees. Dr. A. L. Boone, president of the Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention; addressed the young Baptists today when officers were installed. Dr. Scott, superintendent of missions of this department, addressed the class of graduates. The convention was extended thru Sunday evening.
