ROUTH AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH The First Baptist congregation yesterday morning and night had the please of listening to excellent sermons by Dr. E. C. Routh, of Dallas, editor of the Baptist Standard. At the morning hour the preacher selected his text from Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, "God forbid that I should glory save in the Cross." The preacher suggested that the Cross of Christ revels many things, but probably the most important that in no other way can a man be saved except by the Cross. The hope of the world is the Cross of Christ. The Cross of Christ also reveals a path of service, and there can be no real service without this Cross. The preacher closed his remarks by stating that the Cross of Christ and the spirit of Christ should always have the first place in every man's life. This is the spirit that will win the world, added the preacher. The two sermons were of great spiritual power and the large congregations were much edified by them. Dr. Routh returned to his home at Dallas last night.
