E. Waterman, son of Mrs. J. M. Waterman of this city, is well pleased with his life in the United State navy. The young man entered the navy last April, going to the Great Lakes Training Station at Chicago, Ill, where he entered the electrical training department. He will serve a few months longer in that department and then will proceed to Harvard University where he takes a special course in radio-electrical work, after which he will enter service on a battleship or for field duty in France, as a full fledged wireless telegraph operator. Mr. Waterman says that the navy affords splendid opportunities for the young man who wishes to advance. He says Pat Beaird of this city, is making good in the hospital department, and that Stewart Fuller also of Tyler has completed, his seamanship course and is now at sea.
