W. Brown, of Shreveport, brother of Jule Brown and Will Brown of this city, while driving his Everts automobile, this afternoon, struck a Negro woman at the intersection of South Broadway and Erwin street. She was knocked down, her leg and other injuries resulted. It is stated she was dragged several feet before the car could be stopped. Mr. Brown stated he had turned into South Broadway on the right hand side of the street. He said the woman had gotten aout half way across the street and was about opposite the drive sign in the middle of the street. He blew his horn which seemed to frighten her, when she turned and came back. He stated that he attempted to dodge her, but she ran in front of the car again, making an unavoidable accident, said Mr. Brown. He states that he regrets the accident and did everything within his power to prevent it. The woman was carried to the office of Dr. Jeffries, colored physician, who attended her wounds. At the hour of going to press, it was impossible to tell how badly she was hurt, but the physician stated that her condition is serious.
