A. Cain of Wood county, vice-president; Mrs. Fannie Leake of Austin, secretary and treasurer; S. O. Dawes , lecturer. Executive committee: W. P. Martin of Smith county, W. S. DeArmond of Navarro county and C. A. McMeans of Denton county. ----------------------------------------------------- From Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, August 30, 1894: Near Tyler recently in a difficulty between Clifton and Hiram Harris, the latter was stabbed to the hollow with a pocketknife. Both colored, Clifton claims the stabbing was accidental. Harris may die. Clifton gave himself up and was granted bond in the sum of $100 to await the action of grand jury. ------------------------------------------------------ From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Nov. 8, 1894: Mrs. Geo. Williams of Tyler is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Z. Woodhouse. ------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Nov. 22, 1894: Suit has been filed in the district court at Tyler by Henry R. Gilliam for alleged damages, amounting to $10,000 against Clyde Yarbrough, a hardware merchant of that city. On Oct. 15 last Yarbrough run over Gilliam in the street, the latter sustaining certain injuries for which suit was brought. ------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Nov. 29, 1894: Held for Assault Tyler, Tex., Nov. 22 - John Mathews, a negro, was lodged in jail charged with criminal assault on a half-witted white woman, a pauper on the poor farm. Mathews himself was until recently upon the farm, having been sent there for a misdemeanor. He has made no statement since arrest. ------------------------------------------------------ From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Dec. 6, 1894: Mark Hamilton, of the firm of H. V. Hamilton & Sons, has severed his connection with the Tyler Democrat Reporter and will go with the Harpoon to Houston. Mark is a through newspaper man and we wish him an abundant success in his new field. The Harpoon, which has been published at Tyler since its beginning, has moved to Houston and will be issued from that place in the future. The Harpoon is a humorous paper of high class and an enterprise all Texas should feel proud of. We wish it an abundant success. ------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Jan. 24, 1895: The city of Tyler has been sued for $165 by J. I. Portis on warrants issued in 1892. ------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Jan. 31, 1895: At Tyler recently Henry Harris, colored, had his thumb mashed off and the leaders of his wrist torn entirely loose from his arm in attempting to couple some cars on the International and Great Northern railroad. The pain was so intense that Harris was perfectly wild during the greater part of the night. ------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Jan. 31, 1895: Sylvester Lee has been jailed at Tyler, charged with attempting to assault Mrs. D. W. Marshall. ------------------------------------------------------ From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Feb. 7, 1895: The mayor and city marshall of Tyler are making war on gamblers and many of the prominent citizens have been before his honor and settled. ------------------------------------------------------ From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, Feb. 7, 1895: Mr. W. D. Goodnight has moved his family to Lindale, Texas. We regret to lose them from Wills Point. ------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, March 7, 1895: Rev. R. S. Finley of Tyler, who has been at Dallas attending the Moody meeting at that place, stopped over in the city a few days on his return home. He was the guest of Mr. N. A. Matthews and family. -------------------------------------------------------- From the Wills Point Chronicle, Thursday, March 14, 1895: Dr. W. J. Goodman and wife, and Mr. Jas. LeGrand and wife, all of Tyler, have been the guests of Mr. John T. Read and family. They returned home Monday.
