J. F. Kendrick was born in Harris county, Ga., September 6, 1830; married Miss Mattie Hunt July 9, 1861; professed religion, joined the M. E. Church, South, at a meeting held by Bro. J. S. Mathis in 1871; died in Smith county, Texas, July 16, 1891. Bro. Kendrick, we believe, lived and died a true Christian. Some of his last expressions were: "I am ready to die," but said to his wife: "Mattie, I hate to leave you." Just before he died he tried to sing, "On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand," and thus he passed over the river. God bless and sustain Sister Kendrick till they meet again to part no more. Farewell, dear brother; rest at home. J. M. MILLS.
