She was the only living child of Ed and Anna Sims, of Tyler, Texas. She was beautiful and sprightly, the pride of her young parents and the admiration of the circle of family friends. A narrow street separated Edna's home from the home of the thirteen-year-old girl who writes these lines of loving remembrance. How I loved her! She died of diphtheria. She seemed to be conscious that she would die, and said some beautiful things. Throwing her arms around her mother's neck she exclaimed: "Sing—sing 'Jesus, lover of my soul.'" She was a religious child, only a little more than four years old. She is a little saint in heaven now. EMMA HADEN.
