W. Turner, mother of Rev. Stephen W. turner, late of the East Texas Conference. Sister Turner was born in Mecklenburgh county, Va., on Oct. 29, 1814. She was a Christian from early childhood, and a devoted member of the M. E. Church, South, to her death. She was a woman of extraordinary gifts of mind. Her thoughts dwelt always on the nobler things of life, and caught their inspiration from a source not reached except by those of large intellectual capabilities and great spiritual purity. To have known and to have enjoyed her conversation is accounted by this writer a rare privilege. Hers was a ripe, full life, garnered as the sheaf of corn in its season. H. M. DUBOSE.
