DOUGLAS CALLED BY DEATH Mrs. K. L. Douglas, widow of the late John B. Douglas, passed away yesterday afternoon at her home on South Fannie avenue, after an illness of about three weeks of a complication of diseases. It will be remembered that Mrs. Douglas fell some time ago and sustained a broken hip. She never got up from her bed after the fall, and has suffered great pain. The most of the time she has been in an unconcious condition. The very best medical attention possible was given her, but all to no avail. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her only son and other loved ones. Mrs. Douglas was one of the old citizens of Tyler. She was a daughter of Mr. Beverly Walker, a pioneer of Smith county. Besides her son, Alexander, she is survived by one brother, Dr. Walker, living in California, and one sister, Mrs. Seaton, living on South Fannie avenue. She was a woman who had many friends. She had a kind heart and lovable disposition. She was a life time member of Marvin Methodist church, and devoted much time to the promotion of its interests. Years ago when the church building was jeopardized by debt, she stepped in and advanced many thousand dollars, saving it for the congregation. The funeral will occur this afternoon, services being held at the family residence, South Fannie avenue. Interment at Oakwood cemetery. Friends are invited. (23 Jan 1912)- Tyler, Texas - Newspaper
