Mayfield died suddenly in the grandstand of the East Texas Fair yesterday afternoon about three o'clock. He had taken a prominent part in entertaining the Shriners yesterday. He headed the parade, was with them at their lunch, and had made an address to them just a few minutes before he expired. Besides being the President of Mayfield Grocery Company he was a leader in every activity that was for the best interest of Tyler, being president of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Episcopal church and a prominent Mason.
