MOORE DIED WEDNESDAY EVENING IN DALLAS Mrs. A. J. Moore, widow of the late A. J. Moore, died at the home of her son, Prof. C. M. Moore of Dallas on Wednesday evening, Dec. 5 at 7:45 o'clock. Mrs. Moore had but a short time ago gone to Dallas for a visit with her son, and for medical treatment. Her condition had been reported to her children here and elsewhere as being favorable only a few days prior to the sad news of her demise. Deceased was known and loved by all Troup people. She had been a resident of the community for fifty years, and was born Dorothy Melton, at what is now known as the Old Gambril place near the Rusk county line northeast of Troup, Oct. 30, 1854. Mrs. Moore was united in marriage to A. J. Moore in 1871. To them were born six sons, all of whom survive, as follows: Prof. C.M. of Dallas, Lee of Troup, with whom Mrs. Moore made her home, Shade G. of Hereford, Prof. John R. of Tyler, J. A. of Nacogdoches and Sam Moore of Waco. Many grandchildren also survive with numerous relatives thru out this immediate section. The children were all present at the funeral which was held at the First Baptist Church of Troup Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Sullivan her pastor conducted the funeral services and a large concourse attended in witness of their love and respect for the noble woman who has thus gone to her reward. Interment followed at Union Grove Cemetery beside the remains of her husband who preceded her on Sept. 17, 1919. Mrs. Moore was 69 years, one month and five days of age. That is not old in comparison with the ages of some of her friends who are yet spared. But how well she lived in that span of nearly three score and ten years. Mrs. Moore lived for her children and her neighbors. No one ever said nor thought evil of her. She lived to see all her children occupying places of high esteem among those who know them, some of them holding places of great responsibility in their respective communities. The nobility of her own fine character and Christian life thus has found a new soil in which to grow and manifest itself. Surely her life was one of high purpose - and this must be a comforting thought to those who mourn the absence of mother and friend. ******** CARD OF THANKS We desire, thru the columns of The Banner, to express to the neighbors and friends of our dear Mother, Mrs. Dorothy Moore, who passed to her reward Wednesday night, our profound thanks for their kindness.
