All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************************** Daily Courier-Times, Tyler, TX, Jan. 29, 1913 VAN THEDFORD PASSED AWAY Esteemed Citizen of Noonday Died at Home Last Thursday Van Thedford, aged 70 years, and one of the oldest and best known citizens of Smith county, passed away Thursday afternoon at 6 o'clock at his home at Noonday of a complication of troubles. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, interment taking place at Noonday graveyard. Services were conducted by Rev. Wayne Coltharp. A large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Deceased was a native of Georgia, but had lived in Smith county over half a century. He married early in life, and is survived by his widow and eight children, they being Mrs. Jim Templeton and Miss Ada Thedfore, Messrs. Larkin, Lem, Tim, Wiley, Nathan and Grover, who lives in Oklahoma. All other children reside in Smith county. Mr. Thedford served four years in the Confederate army, making a good soldier. In every walk of life he measured to the standard of a respected citizen. He had hundreds of friends and relatives who feel deeply his passing away.
