Day_Hinds County Gazette unknown We copy the following complimentry notice to Captain B.S. White, of Raymond, from the Waco (Tex.) Day: The meeting of Captain B.S. White, of Mississippi, and Sheriff W.T. Harris this morning, brought to memory the time during the war when they belonged the Cobb’s scouts and were captured by federal soldiers. They were condemned to death, and every minute was thought to be their last, but through some interference they were released. Our high sheriff says it makes the cold chills run over him every time he thinks of those moments. Captain B.S. White, a resident of Hinds county, Miss., spent to-day in the city. The captain is a native Texan, but during the war he became smitten with a Mississippi belle and cast his lot beyond the Father of Water, where he has since resided. He met to-day, for the first time in twenty odd years, a number of his old comrades in arms. Among them are sheriff W.T. Harris, Mr. J.M. Harris, E.A. McKenney, Esq., Mr. J.W. Mann, Col. P.F. Ross and other old soldiers of Gen. Ross brigade, Capt. Whites stay in the city was very pleasant and he promised the “boys” he would come to see them again next summer and stay longer.
