Both are buried at Union Hill Presbyterian Cemetery in Joshua, Johnson Co., Texas. Isaac Pollard Kirkland received his CSA Tombstone with only his name and rank engraved and has not been been included in the Cemetery transcription projects. The couple remained in Johnson Co., Texas throughout their lives, it was not until Isaac's death that Laura moved to Stephens County, Texas where a number of their children were living. Laura eventually moves to Young County just prior to her death. Although the application was made in Stephens Co., Texas by all accounts should be recognized in Johnson Co., Texas as well. Isaac Pollard Kirkland was the son of Pollard Kirkland b. 1803 Alabama and Margaret b. 1805 Tennessee. The Kirkland's moved to Dallas/Ellis County, Texas prior to 1845 as part of the Peter's Colony. D. 1909, on the following Grounds: I am the widow of ISAAC P. KIRKLAND, deceased, who departed this life on the 10th day of July, A.D. 1893, in the county JOHNSON, in the State of Texas. My husband, the said ISAAC P. KIRKLAND, enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and that he did not desert the Confederate Service. I have been a resident of the State of Texas since prior to March 1, A. D. 1880, and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Texas. I do further state that I do not receive from any source whatever money or other means of support amounting in value to the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars per annum, nor do I own in my own right, nor does any one hold in trust for my benefit or use, estate or property, either real, personal or mixed, either in fee or for life, of the assessed value of over one thousand dollars; nor do I receive any aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States, or from any other source, and I do further state that the answers given to the following questions are true: 1. KIRKLAND was the name of his wife and was the aughter of F.(Fielding) L.(Lowry) Kirtley. If she remarried after the death of her husband I know nothing of it. To the cross interrogatories, the witness answers: To the first cross interrogatory he answers, Yes, All my answers I made from personal knowledge. No I did not know any other soldier by the name ISAAC T. KIRKLAND serving in the same company or regiment. To the second cross interrogatory he answers, I am certain that the said ISAAC P. KIRKLAND about whom I have testified is the identical person serving as I have testified. To the third cross interrogatory he answers, Yes, I know that the said ISAAC P. To the second interrogatory he answers, Yes, I knew ISAAC P. KIRKLAND since the year 1854. To the third interrogatory he answers, I first knew ISAAC P. KIRKLAND since the year 1854, in Johnson County,near Alvarado. To the fourth interrogatory he answers, Yes, I personally know that ISAAC P. KIRKLAND enlisted in the service of the Confederacy and performed the duties of a soldier. To the fifth interrogatory he answers, Yes, he enlisted in Company H, 20th cavalry, and served in the capacity in the comfederate army. He enlisted in 1862 at Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas and served until the close of the Civil war. To the sixth interrogatory he answers, he was not an officer but served as a private soldier.
