All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Sam Shultz Baccus, 63, a Breckenridge grocer died from failing health in the Stephens County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health since 1955 and was forced to retire from the grocery story business in 1957. He was born 8 February 1897 at Seymour, Texas. Baccus came to Breckenridge in 1918 and was in the grocery business until 1932. He was a veteran of World War I. Baccus was the City Engineer for Breckenridge, Texas from 1932-1938. He moved to Mineral Wells in 1938 and then to Graham in 1940. In 1944, he returned to Breckenridge and opened a grocery store which he operated until 1957. Baccus married Miss Golda Miller in Breckenridge in 1932. He held memberships in the Breckenridge Masonic Lodge, American Legion and Roughneck Bible Class. Services were held in the First Baptist Church in Breckenridge with Rev. Edgar Jones, pastor, officiating. Survived by his wife; one brother - E.D. Baccus of Huntsville; three nephews.
