All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************** The Breckenridge Daily American Breckenridge, Texas Monday, April 28, 1924 What is declared to have been one of the most impressive funerals ever held in Stephens county was conducted at the Whiteside cemetery yesterday when Rev. George W. Thomas, a Baptist minister of Houston, held the funeral service for his mother, Mrs. M.N. "Edith" Thomas. Reading from an old Bible, that deceased had worn out reading to her seven sons during the period of their rearing, the preacher son, spoke to a great crowd of neighbors and friends who knew the life of his mother as being that of an influential mother, a good citizen and neighbor. Deceased was 57 years old, had been a resident of Stephens county nearly 25 years. Surviving: her husband; the following seven sons: James H. Thomas, R.A. Thomas, H.C. Thomas, Shirley Thomas and Jesse Thomas of Breckenridge, William Arthur Thomas of Young County, G.W. Thomas of Houston. Burial was under direction of J.P. Kiker of the Thompson Undertaking Company.
