Davis Dr., Arlington, Tarrant Co., TX 76012 The cemetery is on the east side of the road directly in front of Turning Point Junior High and directly across from Trinity Baptist Church. The cemetery is a single large headstone and Texas State historical marker surrounded by a brick and wrought iron fence. From Fort Worth, exit I30 at Fielder, turn north to Lamar Dr., east to Davis, then north on Davis. From Dallas, exit I30 at Cooper and turn west on Lamar to Davis, then north on Davis. From north of Arlington, go south on FM 157 (Industrial/Collins), turn west on Green Oaks Blvd to Davis, then south on Davis. Texas State Historical Marker: Front: "GIBBINS CEMETERY AND HOMESTEAD SITE JAMES GIBBINS (1817-70) MIGRATED TO TEXAS FROM ARKANSAS IN 1857. HE BOUGHT LAND NEAR PRESENT DAY ARLINGTON IN 1863. GIBBINS DEEDED PART OF THIS LAND TO HIS SON THOMAS JEFFERSON GIBBINS (1841-91), WHO ENLARGED THE HOMESTEAD. THIS FAMILY CEMETERY WAS FIRST USED FOR THE BUARIAL OF THOMAS' FIRST WIFE, AMANDA C. GIBBINS (1846-77). HIS SECOND WIFE, MARTHA H. GIBBINS (1856-1924), MAINTAINED THE LAND FOR THREE DECADES AFTER THE DEATH OF HER HUSBAND. THE GIBBINS FAMILY HAS CONTRIBUTED MUCH TO THIS AREA INCLUDING THE DONATION OF LAND FOR A PUBLIC SCHOOL AND THE ROSE-BROWN-MAY PARK. The park is located about a mile to the northeast at Green Oaks Blvd and Margaret Dr.: from the cemetery, continue north on Davis Dr., turn east on Green Oaks Blvd. and north on Margaret into the park. There is also a City of Arlington Gibbins Park located about a mile to the southeast in the 2100 block of Margaret Dr. directly south of Butler Elementary School: on the first street south of the cemetery (Rocky Canyon Rd.) drive east, turning south on Margaret; the park is on the east side of the road.] Headstone: Front: "PIONEER FAMILY OF JAMES H.
