Tarrant Co., TX - Cemeteries - Mt Gilead Cemetery *********************************************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Ryan Heap Copyright. September 11, 2004 Eagle Scout Project - Cemetery Survey, Headstone transcription Project The cemetery is located in North Tarrant County, off Ottinger road (Keller Springfield) and North of Keller, Tx. and is across the road from the Mount Gilead Baptist Church. Transcription from the historical marker: This burial ground originally served a pioneer settlement of related families who migrated to the area from Missouri in 1847 as members of the Peters Colony. They were headed by a widow, Permelia Allen (d. 1866), who is buried here in an unmarked grave. This tract, adjacent to the Mount Gilead Baptish Church and school, was first owned by her sons-in-law Daniel Barcroft (1836-81) and Iraneous Neace (1816-79). The Earliest marked gravesite is that of Willian Joyce (1836-54). Homemade grave markers here reflect the pioneer lifestyle of the early settlers. A map of the Mt.Gilead cemetery has been created and has been divided into quadrants. The map quadrant of each headstone is provided in the data below. The map can be found in the photo section of the Usgenweb Project found on the internet at www.usgenweb.org Chkd Photo Map Last Name First Name Middle Name Birth Death Other x x E1 July 25 Oct 3, 1879 Note: DAR recorded name as "Our Baby Aurthur", no surname x B2 Adrienne A.
