All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Mansfield News Mirror January 11, 1990 Funeral services for Simon Cannon, 86, of Mansfield, were held Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Church of Christ in Hale Center with Silas Short officiating. Burial was in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Claude Allen, Tony Cannon, Larry Haynes, Ken Cannon, Harlen Cannon, Jr., and Jimmy Cannon, Jr. Mr. Cannon died at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1989, in Arlington Memorial Hospital. He was born June 25, 1903, in Oklahoma Territory. He married Ruby A. Sneed on March 26, 1924, and they moved from Hale Center to Mansfield in 1952. He bought the White Oaks Dairy Farm at 1901 E. Broad where he lived until his death. He wife of 64 years preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1988. Survivors include four sons: Gene Cannon of Bogata; Jimmie W. Cannon of Fort Worth; Simon Donald (Buster) Cannon; and Charlie (Pete) Cannon, both of Mansfield; one daughter, Mrs. Frankie Lynn (Doris Lee) Carter of Mansfield; two brothers, Jay Cannon of Hale Center and Frank Cannon of Bogata; sister, Ima Wiese of Petersburg; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
