Casstevens, 3714 Ellsmere, passed away in a local hospital in Fort Worth, Sunday, August 16, after a two and a half month illness. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, Dr. James W. Bryant and Dr. W. Fred Swank officiated. Interment followed at Mansfield Cemetery. Arrangements: Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Road at University Drive, 817-336-0584. Pallbearers: Nephews, Burton and Bill Casstevens, Douglas Wynn, John Murl Nash, Bill Lee, and J. Fred Stone. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. Carl A. Clark, L. Clyde Harrison, Jack Blair, John B. Killian, Jack Moody, C. L. (Smokey) Boyle, Steve T. Gallaway, Leo Woods Sunday School Class, Fred Eudey Sunday School Class. John was born on Oct. 2, 1902 in Johnson County, Texas, the son of George Washington and Orlena Ellen Guest Casstevens. He was a former Assistant Director of Parks, a member of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, and one of the founders and a past president of the Fort Worth Mineral Club. Survivors: Wife, Katie May Stone Casstevens; daughter, Joy and husband, Jerry R. Watkins; son David Casstevens and wife, Elaine of Alvarado; grandchildren Kathy Watkins, Jerry R. Watkins II, Debbie (Mrs. Kenneth) Craig, Robert and Lynda Casstevens; brother, Alvy Burton Casstevens, Mansfield; sisters, Mrs. Stella Blissard of Mansfield; Mrs. Alta Lawing of Fort Worth; several nieces and nephews.
