All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Mansfield News Mirror May 12, 1983 Robert Hancel Casstevens, Sr., 73, a member of a pioneer area family, died May 15, 1983, in his sleep. He was born May 25, 1909, the son of Ezra Lee and Mary Edna Goode Casstevens. He was born and died in a house built by T. B. Casstevens, his grandfather and one of the early settlers in Lillian. It was also the house where his father was born and died. He attended school in Pleasant Point, Lillian, Burleson and Alvarado. He was also a resident of Fort Worth until he retired from Hobbs Trailer Co. in 1975. He is survived by his wife, Leona Payne Casstevens, formerly of Charlesville; a son, Robert Hancel Casstevens, Jr. of Lillian; daughter, Dr. Sandra C. Steinbach of Dallas; sisters, Ella Mae Casstevens of Fort Worth; Bertha Jones of Weatherford; brothers, Harold Dan Casstevens of Lillian; and Horace Clinton Casstevens of Dallas. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Cheryl Leigh, Herbert Louis, Robert Hancel, and Stephen Ross Steinbach, all of Dallas; and Robert Preston and Michelle D’Ann Casstevens, both of Lillian. Funeral services were held Saturday at Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Miles Seaborn, Jr. and Rev. B. O. Baker officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Point Cemetery in Lillian, Johnson County, Texas, under the direction of Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Road at University Drive, Fort Worth. Pallbearers were Ralph Leith, David Anderson, Bob Perkins, Alec Heard, Garland Adair, and Raymond Steele. Honorary pallbearers were Reverend Carson Everett, W. O. (Red) Taylor, Bob Howington, C. A. Watson, Marvin Angel, Jesse Beckham, and R. A. Beavers. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the Building Fund at Birchman Avenue Baptist Church.
