All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Mansfield New Mirror April 17, 1997 Funeral services for Waurine Hughes Chafin, 86, of Fort Worth, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Robertson Mueller Harper, Rev. Charles Clary of Tate Springs Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Chafin, a homemaker, died Monday, April 14, 1997, at her home. She was born Sept. 8, 1910, Texas. She was a native of Dublin and a longtime resident of Fort Worth. Her husband, Herbert Dale Chafin preceded her in death, July 11, 1977. As a high school student in Dublin, she was a member of the 1928 state basketball championship team. Mrs. Chafin was a member of Magnolia Christian Church, where she was active and served as a deaconess. More recently, she was a member of the Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington. Survivors include her son Herbert Ray Chafin and wife, Nancy of Guatemala City, Guatemala; brothers, Tom J. Hughes of Mansfield and E. J. Hughes of Brownwood; sister, Kathryn Hughes Martin of Resten, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
