All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Mansfield News Mirror September 1996 Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth Chandler, 78, of Arlington, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1996, at the graveside in Mansfield Cemetery. Dr. Don Pike, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Arlington officiated. Blessing Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Miss Chandler died at 6:35 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, at her home. She was born Oct. 31, 1917 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of St. Elmo Murray and Connie Conquer Chandler. Miss Chandler received her formal education in Canada, and moved to the United States in 1941 and resided in the Richmond, Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Virginia areas. In 1991, she relocated from Virginia Beach to Arlington to be with her brother, where she resided until the time of her death. She was a legal secretary for the federal government, retiring in 1982 and was a member of Chapter #1201 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Association. Miss Chandler was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Murray Leslie (Chan) Chandler who died July 12, 1995. Survivors include niece, Martha Tanis and husband, Coy Edwin Garrett of Arlington; grand-niece, Shana Lynn Garrett of Dallas; niece Leslie Caroline (Rodney Carol, Jr.) Coartney of El Cajon, San Diego, California; and grand-nephew, Rodney Carol Coartney II of El Cajon, California.
