Burial was in the Mansfield Cemetery under the direction of Blessing-McInnis Funeral Home, Mansfield. Chasteen died Saturday, July 20, 1957, at his home, 1345 E. Minden, Fort Worth, after a long illness. He was a Tarrant County farmer for 50 years, most of that time in the Mansfield area. He came to Fort Worth three years ago. He had been employed here as an elevator operator at Forest Park Apartments. Three of his twelve children preceded him in death: Mildred Inez Chasteen, 1929; Frank Norris Chasteen, 1933; and Raymond T. Chasteen, 1933. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was born May 19, 1881, near Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. Survivors include two daughters, Bertha Oleta (J. D.) Oliver of Handley and Fredna Merle (Sam Marvin) Jones of Arlington; seven sons, Archie Melvin, Bennie Lee and Cecil Delbert of Mansfield; Olen Edgar of Fort Worth, Johnnie Oliver of Grand Prairie, and Edward Earl and Bobby Gene Chasteen of Arlington; a brother, Tom W. Chasteen of Mansfield; 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
