Graveside service was Thursday, Jan. 4 at Howard Cemetery in Benbrook. Visitation: Friends were cordially invited to attend viewing Wednesday at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield. Thomas was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Mansfield, the son of Thomas and Thirsa Day. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a loving and devoted husband and father. Survivors: Wife, Martha Bryant Day; daughters, Sandra Visser and husband, Don; Kathy Whittle and husband, David; and Martha Kuykendall and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Aaron Weaver, Bryan Kuykendall, Michael Visser, Amber Kuykendall and Adam Weaver; five great grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother. Tarrant County - Obituaries - Arthur B. Davis Mansfield News Mirror January 5, 2007 Arthur B. Davis, 79, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, in Arlington. The funeral will be held at Moore Funeral Home Chapel today at 3 p.m. with interment in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Arthur was born March 7, 1927, in Greenville, Alabama, and moved to Mansfield in 1980. He worked for Firestone for 42 years, and during WWII, served as Field Artillery Sergeant. He will be remembered for his true love and devotion to the Lord, his wife, family, and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Grace Davis, and his brother, Jerry Davis. Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Eleanor Davis; daughter, Sherry McKinnon and husband, Porter of Scottsdale, Arizona; son, Glenn Davis and wife, Susie of Grand Prairie; nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren; brothers, Charles and Leonard Davis; sisters, Ann Marie Shaffer and Linda Longo, and numerous extended family and friends. Jack was born Oct. 31, 1959 in Dallas. He moved to Arlington at age 5 months and attended Crow Elementary, Carter Junior High and graduated from Sam Houston High. Jack became a journeyman electrician and worked in the city of Arlington and the city of Fort Worth water departments before suffering a stroke in recent years. Jack was an excellent handyman and a good mechanic. The pride and joy of his life were his two children. The time he spent with them was his life’s greatest pleasure. Survivors: His loving daughter, Megan Robinson; his ever-faithful son, Lucas Robinson; brother, Dr. Pat Robinson and wife, Bridget; sister, Michaela Huffman; father, Pete Robinson; and nephews, Justin and Matthew Robinson. Memorial service was Saturday at Rehoboth Baptist Church, 2501 Turner Way, Arlington. James was born in Tarrant County on July 15, 1943, to Harold Edward Meador and Lavenia Othell Meekins Meador. Meador is preceded in death by his father, Harold Edward Meador. Survivors: Daughter, Angela Meador; and mother, Lavenia Meador of Arlington. Tarrant County - Obituaries - Peter F. Gaydos Mansfield News Mirror December 15, 2006 Peter F. Gaydos surrendered to the Lord’s call Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. Memorial service was Monday at Blessing Funeral Home, Mansfield. Burial was in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He was born March 17, 1922, in Dixonville, Ohio, to parents who immigrated from Austria and Hungary. He was the last surviving of 11 children, all raised in Cleveland, Ohio. In his youth, he attended John Adams High, where he was a cheerleader and taught ballroom dancing. He graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame and attended the University of Chicago and Harvard University. Peter was honored with the Victory Medal while serving in the U.S. Navy as an ensign (supply corps) during World War II. He love of dancing brought him to a U.S.O. dance where he met his wife, Norma. Pete and Norma shared a devoted 60 years together. Peter worked as an aerospace specification writer for Martin Marietta (Orlando, Fla.), but spent most of his career with LTV in Grand Prairie until his retirement in 1989. He loved watching and supporting his family in all aspects of their lives, especially with their athletic careers. Peter was a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ, studying His word for more than 40 years. Among other things, God’s gift to him was music. He sang in a barbershop quartet, church choirs, including the Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Mansfield and Arlington Community Church, Mansfield Senior Center, and also his assisted living home, Alterra. Peter also played the accordion, guitar and the harmonica. He will now join in song with our heavenly choir. Survivors: Wife, Norma; daughter, Vicki and husband, Dennis Dowd; son, Kent Gaydos and wife, Pamela; grandchildren, David Dowd and wife, Micheline; Lori Dowd Miles and husband, Randy; Brittany and Bryan Gaydos; great grandchildren, Trinity, Avery, Brynn and Drake; and nieces, nephews and friends.
