Owens, a homemaker, died Thursday at a Fort Worth hospitaL She was 85. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Polytechnic United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Lucas & Moore Funeral Home on Brentwood Stair Road is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Owens was born in Hereford in the Panhandle and had lived in Fort Worth since 1912. She was a graduate of Polytechnic High School and attended Texas Christian University. She was a member of Polytechnic Methodist Church for 76 years, and taught Sunday school classes there as recently as last week. She was a member of the Polytechnic Women's Club and of the Entre Nous Club. Her husband for 62 years, Herbert A. Owens, is retired chief of the Fort Forth Fire Department. One son, Herbert Owens Jr., is Star-Telegram wire editor for the evening editions. Another son, Herschel B. Owens, is a Fort Worth Fire Department arson investigator. Survivors: Husband, Herbert A. Owens; two sons, Herbert A. Owens Jr. and Herschel B. Owens; two sisters, Reba Zarba and Lefors Brown, all of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
