Confederate Veterans
Capt. J.C. Terrell, chairman of mortuary committee, outline of the last D.M.
Thomas who died near Arlington not long ago. Comrade Dave Thomas was a member of
Captain Terrell’s company, which he carried to the war from this place. His old
commander spoke very feelingly of the faithful service of this soldier; of the
battled he had been in under his own eye, and of the severe saber thrust wound
that Thomas had received at the battle of Hammer’s Lane in LA during the Bank’s
raid into Texas from LA.
