All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Mansfield News Mirror November 11, 1965 Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday in the Mansfield Methodist Church for Mrs. Effie Mae Watson, 81. She died Monday morning in Cedars Hospital after being injured in a traffic collision here Sunday at noon. Officiating for final rites were Rev. J. H. Raines, pastor of the Mansfield Methodist Church, and Rev. D. r. McCauley. Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery under the direction of Blessing-McInnis Funeral Home. Mrs. Watson was injured when an automobile in which she was a passenger was in a collision with another auto at the intersection of Oak and Main Streets. Also injured was her sister, Mrs. Stella Blissard, 65, driver of one of the cars, Mrs. Sallie Blissard, 65, of San Diego, Calif., and Jimmy Glen Wammack, 20, driver of the other car. The three women all were in the same car All the injured have since been released from the hospital. The accident occurred as the three women were returning home from services at the Methodist Church. The car Mrs. Blissard was driving was moving east on Oak Street and the Wammack auto was traveling north on Main Street. Investigating the accident were Chief of Police Earl Andrews and officer, Paul C. DeVault. The Wammack youth was given a ticket for negligent collision, police reports show. Mrs. Watson was born in Johnson County on August 17, 1884, the daughter of George Washington and Orlena Laura Ellen Guest Casstevens. On November 15, 1903, she and John A. Watson were married. Mr. Watson died April 23, 1926. Mrs. Watson was a member of the Mansfield Methodist Church where she had served for many years as a member of the Board of Stewards. She was a member of Mansfield Lodge 876 of the Eastern Star. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Lula Morgan of Fort Worth; Mrs. Carl Hunt, Mrs. Roy Tipps, Mrs. Stella Blissard, all of Mansfield, and Mrs. Alta Lawing of Fort Worth; two brothers, Alvy Burton Casstevens of Mansfield and John Estelle Casstevens of Fort Worth; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Emmett Robertson, Arthur Curry, B. T. Morgan, Guy Stewart, Bill Lamb, Bob Boren, Wilfred Brinkley, and Willie Pigg.
