Corder, 72, Dies at Merkel R.B. Corder, 72, resident of Taylor county since 1900, died in a Merkel hospital on Wednesday. He had been ill two weeks. Funeral held at Laughter's chapel Friday. Burial in the local cemetery. Born in North Carolina in 1871, Mr. Corder since coming to Taylor county had lived in and around Abilene and the Hamby community until seven years ago. At the time of his death he was living in the Golden community north of Merkel. He was married to Eliza Ann Evans in 1898. She died in 1935. In 1937, he married Mrs. Laura Elliott, who survives. Other survivors: 3 sons - Cecil of Long Beach, Calif., Willie in the U.S. Army in Louisiana, Jack in the U.S. Army in Hawaii; 5 daughters - Mrs. Annie Williams of Sweetwater, Mrs. B.G. Jutson of Abilene; Mrs. Jimmie Myles of Athens, Mrs. J.D. Pinkston of Levelland, Mrs. E.B. Thorpe of Forsan; 4 brothers - W.B. Corder of Wichita Falls, A.J. of Abilene, J.F. of May, A.M. Kingston, Okla. Pallbearers: P.D. Skidmore, M.M. Herron, R.T. Jones, J.N. Hurd, Bill James, I.L. Vancil.
