Harkrider, a pioneer of Abilene who died last night at her home on Seminary Hill, Fort Worth, will be held in Abilene this afternoon from the home of a niece, Mrs. E.E. Andrews, 326 Butternut Street. Body of Mrs. Harkrider, accompanied by her only surviving children, Mrs. George Stribling, an Abilenian, was to arrive here on the Texas & Pacific train. Dr. M.A. Jenkens, pastor of the First Baptist church, is to officiate for the funeral and burial will follow in the Cedar Hill cemetery, beside the graves of Mr. Harkrider, who died in 1917 and a son, C.E. Harkrider, who preceded his mother in death six years ago. Mrs. Harkrider, about 82, became ill 10 days ago. Mrs. Stribling was spending the winter with a daughter in Oklahoma. Mrs. Harkrider and her husband who was an early grocery man here associated with a nephew, D.T. Harkrider, came to Abilene more than 40 years ago. They moved to Fort worth and were residing there at the time of Mr. HarkriderŐs death. Survivors include four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are: George and Herbert Stribling of Fort Worth, Mrs. Al Bace of Tulsa, OK, Mrs. R.W. Jones of Abilene. Pallbearers: Rupert Harkrider, Horace Adams, Booth Warren of Merkel, Will Riney, Jr., Carrol. E. Wood and George L. Paxton, Jr., all are great nephews. Laughter Undertaking Company is in charge of the arrangements.
