Thompson, or as he is usually called, Grandpa Thompson, died at his home in the west part of town this morning at 5 o'clock. [May 29, 1908] The funeral services were held at the Tabernacle at 4 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Revs. G.B. Airhart, S.J. Vaughan and U.C. Verterans, and the burial immediately followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. It was not generally known that Mr. Thomspon was seriously ill until he was almost at death's door. He had a severe spell a short time ago, but had recovered and was down town a few days before his death. Everything that neighbors, friends and medical science could do to restore life and bring him back to his wanted health, but being aged there was no structure to build on, hence the grim reaper death came and called him to the other world. He leave a wife and other relatives to mourn his departure unto whom the Telgram with other friends extends deep sympathy. THOMPSON- Merkel, TX June 8 - G.N.
