Willis of 1716 Fort Avenue died in a local nursing home at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday. He was 79. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Wilkirson and Hatch Chapel. Rev. Roy T. Sherrod will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Willis was a native of Abilene and was engaged in banking in Waco for 45 years. He joined the old Central Bank here in 1915 and became associated with First National Bank when the two institutions merged in 1924. He was assistant cashier when he retired in 1960. He was treasurer of First Presbyterian Church for many years and also served as deacon. He was a member of Waco Lodge No. 92, AF & AM more than 50 years and treasurer of the lodge more than 30 years. He was a member of Karem Shrine and the Waco Coin Club. Mr. Willis was married to Miss Clara Evans in Waco in 1917. The family will be at 4804 Hillcrest Drive. Survivors include his wife; one son, John Todd Willis Jr. of 4804 Hillcrest Drive; two grandsons, Brad Willis and David Willis, both of 4804 Hillcrest Drive; two sisters, Miss Sally [sic] Willis of Fort Worth and Mrs. Ike Hudson of Abilene, and one brother, C.
