Moffett, age 78, of Throckmorton, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at a Throckmorton Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Throckmorton with the Rev. Ava Berry of Abilene and Rev. Monty Barnett of Throckmorton officiating. Burial will follow in the Throckmorton Cemetery under the care and direction of the Merriman - Archer Funeral Home of Throckmorton. Burl was born to Douglas and Neva "Ayers" Moffett, one of eleven children. He graduated from Hobbs High School and joined the United States Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the V. F. W. He married Lane McNutt in 1955 in Abilene, Texas. He worked for W. T. U. for 8 years. He worked for Royal Electric Company and at this time he helped save a young man's life and won an award for this. He worked at Missile sites at Bradshaw and several others. He was a farmer and rancher and an Oilfield business owner. He started his own business in 1969 - Moffett's Magneto Service of Throckmorton. He retired from that business in 1987. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and has served on the Administrative Board and Board of Trustees. He served on the Board of Throckmorton Housing Authority and Throckmorton County Hospital Board. Survivors include: his wife, Lane McNutt Moffett of Throckmorton, Texas; two daughters, Kem Fogleman of Snyder, Texas and Kelle Moffett Lillie of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Roy Moffett of Colorado and Leland Moffett of Snyder, Texas; four sisters, Wanda Lieb of Abilene, Texas, Zelma Dendy of Abilene, Texas, Linda Wilsey of Keller, Texas and Betty McClain of Pottsboro, Texas; and grandchildren, Lynn Fogleman of Big Spring, Texas, Amy Fogleman of Snyder, Texas and Audrey Lane Lillie of Wichita Falls, Texas.
