Pleasant. Little is known of the cemetery and it is one of the many enigmas posed in the surveys of Titus County cemeteries. There are no official deeds, set asides, or other documentation that indicate the origin of the cemetery, names and numbers of individuals buried there, and whether or not the Business Loop or Bypass US 271 actually covered a part of the cemetery. Both Lynch Harper’s and Traylor Russell’s works quote statements by Phil Blackwell as the source for information on the cemetery. Mr. Blackwell fenced a small, triangular area in a steel fence to represent those of his relatives buried there. He placed on monument in the center of this enclosure, which states “Seven children of Joshua and R. E. Blackwell, died in 1861 to 1892 Jesus calls us home". According to Mr. Blackwell there are some 15 to 20 graves in the cemetery. See notices of August 29, 1978 and September 5, 1978 in the Mt. Pleasant Daily Tribune for a discussion of plans for the removal of the interred. Supposedly, the new highway bypassed the cemetery. From the Titus County court house take Jefferson Street (Business US 271) north 2.8 miles. The cemetery lies on the left (west) of the highway on private property.
