It is surrounded by woods, has no upkeep, and the wild vegetation is wreaking havoc with the stones and monument remaining in the cemetery. Twenty eight native rock markers were counted during the survey and, most likely many others have been submerged by the natural decaying vegetation and the incursion of cattle that have access to the cemetery. One funeral home marker was found on the site. The only remaining monument has been toppled and is laying horizontal on the ground with subsequent rapid deterioration. This is a very significant cemetery because of the uniqueness of the rock cairn that dominates the cemetery. To reach the Wm. Cook Cemetery from the Titus County court house, take Madison Street south for 0.3 mile to the intersection with Ferguson Road (US 271). Turn left onto Ferguson Road and continue Southeast (the road becomes Texas Highway 49). Proceed 3.8 miles to the intersection of Chapel Hill Road (FM 1735). Turn right onto FM 1735 and continue for 0.8 to the intersection of County Road (CR) 4710 (CR SE 13) on the right. Turn right onto CR 4710 and proceed for 1 mile to the intersection from the right of CR 4720 (CR SE 22). Turn right onto CR 4720 and continue to the dead end at the current residence. The cemetery lies about 200 yards to the southwest of the current residence on a knoll.
