It is special in the sense that it is one of the oldest in Titus County; has been maintained in it’s pristine condition; contains no monuments but has not been “lost”; and is deeded and therefore cannot legally be destroyed for other purposes. It sits in a grove of trees on a high hill overlooking the property of Bobby Ziedy. Mr. Ziedy is committed to it’s preservation in it’s natural state. There are 30-35 native rocks strewn about the confines of the cemetery. Some of the rocks appear to have been inscribed at one time but the elements have destroyed any chance of “readability”. Although, no doubt, marking grave sites at one time, no semblance of the location can be ascertained because of the scattering. No historical evidence could be found that would offer clues to those interred in this cemetery. It is named Parker in honor of James M. Parker who once owned the land. Of the 160 acre homestead, 1 acre was set aside for the cemetery. It can only be assumed that members of the Parker family are buried there. From the example this cemetery serves, every effort should be expended on it’s preservation. Too many others like it have been lost and it is hoped that example will not be. To reach the Parker Cemetery from the Titus County court house take Madison Street South for 0.3 mile to the intersection with Ferguson Road (US 271). Turn left onto Ferguson Road and continue Southeast (the road becomes Texas Highway 49). Proceed 3.2 miles to the intersection with Union Hill Road (FM 2348). Turn right on Union Hill Road (FM 2348) and proceed 2.4 miles to the intersection with County Road (CR) 4550 (CR SE 12}. Turn right onto CR 4550 and proceed for 0.7 miles to the Ziedy property on the right of the road. The house sits about 0.2 mile from the County Road. The cemetery lies about 0.2 miles West of the home. Coordinates: 33o05.933'N 094o55.980'W
