County of Titus Your petitioner, Mrs. S. A. Smith respectfully represents that she is a resident citizen of Titus County in the State of Texas; that she is the widow of H. G. Smith, deceased who was a Confederate soldier and that she makes this application for the purpose of obtaining a pension as the widow of said H. G. Smith.......... What is your name? S. A. Smith What is your age? seventy-three years old In what County do you reside? In Titus County How long have you resided in said County and what is your post office address? 27 years residence in the county. P. O. Address Cason, TX Have you applied for a pension under the Confederate Pension Law heretofore, and been rejected? I have never before applied. What is your occupation is able to engage in one? Not able to engage in any. What is your physical condition? Bad, old age, diseased. What was the name of your deceased husband? H. G. Smith Were you married to him anterior to March 1, 1866? Yes, on 22nd day of Sept 1843 in Henry County, Georgia. What was the date of his death? He died on the 19th day of March 1893. Are you unmarried? Yes State in what company and regiment your deceased husband for whose services you claim a pension enlisted in the Confederate Army. Company__ Captain ___Hamner; 37th Alabama Inf. He served 9 months. If your deceased husband served in the Confederate Navy state when and where. He never served in the navy. State whether or not you have received any pension or veteran donation land certificate. I have never received any. What real and personal property do you now own and what is the present value of such property? 65 acres of land valued at $150.00 What property and what was the value thereof have you sold or conveyed within two years peior to the date of this application? I have sold one cow to pay a debt. What income, if any do you receive? I do not receive any. Are you in indigent circumstances? Yes except as above stated. Have you tranferred to others any property of value? No Did you deceased husband ever desert the Confederacy? Smith applicant for the pension as the widow of H. G. Smith deceased is in truth and fact the widow of the said H. G. Smith deaceased, that they personally know that the said H. G. Smith, deceased enlisted in the service of the Confederacy and performed the duties of a soldier as claimed by hsi said widow in the above and forgoing application and that they further know that the said Mrs. S.
